Learning disability and autism National awards

A huge congratulations to our Quality & Improvements manager Yasmin who received a 'highly commended’ runners up award for The Senior Manager of The Year on Friday 30th June at the LDawards 2023.

The Northam Care Trust were also honoured to be apart of such an amazing event in the LD Awards celebrating excellence in the support for people with learning disabilities. What a great night for the industry and for our Trust!

Winner of the Small and Medium Enterprise Recognition Kickstart Award

Fiona White, Senior HR Manager and Robin Stoneman, Chair of Board of Trustees of The Northam Care Trust attended the DWP’s Building Futures Awards evening at Lancaster House, London on 12th July 2022 to receive the Small and Medium Enterprise Recognition Award for Kickstart. We offered Kickstart jobs to 32 young people with 24 remaining in permanent roles in the Trust. We are immensely proud of this recognition award, but more importantly we are pleased to have been able to support the DWP’s Kickstart scheme. The awards event was attended by PM Boris Johnson and Therese Coffey, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions.

Atlantic Racquet Centre Community Partner of the Year

The Northam Care Trust were extremely proud to have been presented with the Atlantic Racquet Centre Community Partner of the year award by Atlantic Racquet Centre.

We have a meaningful partnership with ARC and are very grateful for all that they do in helping us improve the lives of the people we support. The people we support are always welcomed and valued at ARC with racquet sports sessions, gym sessions and a social space for our older age social group. Inclusivity underpins both our organisations – and this partnership working has helped both ARC and TNCT achieve great outcomes for people.

The Northam Care Trust is also a corporate board member of ARC and provide monthly updates on how those being supported to use the facilities are getting on and the outcomes for those people, which is always positive. Long may this fantastic partnership continue.

Winner of the South West Care Home Network COVID Hero Award for Devon

Northam lodge were winners of the Care Home Covid Heroes Award for Devon in recognition of the hard work, dedication, team work and commitment of the staff team in keeping colleagues and residents with profound disabilities and health needs, safe during the pandemic. Awarded by the SW Care Homes Network / SW Academic Health Science Network in May 2021. 

Level 2 Disability Confident Employer

The Northam Care Trust are extremely proud to share that we have undertaken and passed the assessment to move from a Level 1 Disability Confident Employer to a Level 2 Disability Confident Employer.

Fiona White, HR manager, and Luke Souster, receptionist, were also involved in the Ability not Disability project where they were part of a film created by Learn Devon to promote the project and our Disability Confident status. The project aims to support individuals with learning & physical disabilities into places of employment that suit their needs. To see more on the project you can watch the videos by clicking here.
