Celebrating Clare Milne's Legacy on #ClaresDay

Today, on #ClaresDay, we are delighted to celebrate the remarkable legacy of Clare Milne and recognise the lasting impact she continues to have on the lives of so many people.

At Northam Care Trust, we are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support of The Clare Milne Trust, whose generosity has helped us enhance the services and environments we provide for the people we support. Through this valued partnership, we have been able to complete a significant extension at Gibson Lodge, creating a new lounge area and kitchen that offer greater comfort, independence, and opportunities for social interaction.

In addition, funding from The Clare Milne Trust enabled us to renovate the lift at Northam Lodge, making it more accessible and disability friendly. These improvements play an important role in ensuring that the people we support can enjoy safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments that enhance their daily lives.

While the physical improvements are greatly appreciated, Clare's legacy extends far beyond bricks and mortar. Many of our long-serving staff members have fond memories of Clare's visits to the Trust over the years. Her warmth, kindness, and genuine interest in people left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Staff particularly remember the occasions when Clare would invite friends from our lodges to spend the day at her home. These visits were always eagerly anticipated and filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable moments. Staff loved these trips as Clare insisted they have sherry and take a dip in her pool!

Clare's compassion, enthusiasm, and commitment to improving the lives of people with disabilities continue to inspire us today. Through the work of The Clare Milne Trust, her vision lives on, helping organisations like Northam Care Trust provide the best possible care, support, and opportunities for the people who rely on us.
